Cabana Coffee
Cabana Coffee is one of the few spots in Dolný Kubín serving genuine specialty coffee with alternative milk options, though prices feel steep for a small Slovak town.
I visited Cabana Coffee in Dolný Kubín at the end of April, and the beautifully designed interiors caught my eye as soon as I walked in. The space feels thoughtfully put together and cozy — you can tell the owners cared not only about the coffee but also about the overall visual experience. The atmosphere was calm and pleasant, exactly what I would expect from a café where I want to take a break.
I was glad to find that Cabana Coffee serves genuine specialty coffee — that is a real rarity in Dolný Kubín. I also appreciated the selection of alternative milk options; they even had pea milk, which is uncommon even in larger cities. I had a coffee with pea milk and the result was very good — well balanced, with a clean flavour.
With all that positivity said, I have to be honest about one thing: the coffee was not quite at the level of absolute world-class. It was excellent, but not breathtaking. That alone would not be a problem — if it were not for the price. Paying €3.90 for a coffee in Dolný Kubín feels excessive to me. In Bratislava I would understand it, but here it comes across as a pricing policy copied from big-city cafés without the corresponding quality to justify it.
Overall, Cabana Coffee is a great place that brings something Dolný Kubín was missing — a specialty coffee culture. I will definitely return, but knowing I will pay more for the experience than I would expect.
